Together, Lydia and Brit bring style, confidence, and reflection to the workshop — creating space to question the rules we’ve inherited and experiment with what dressing for you can look and feel like.

We all carry ideas about how we should dress.

“That color doesn’t look good on me.” “I’m too old for that.” “I could never pull that off.” “That’s not flattering on my body.”

But where did those rules come from? And do they still belong to you?

Dress for You is an interactive style workshop designed to help you get curious about your personal style, question the expectations you’ve inherited, and explore what it means to dress in a way that feels authentic to you.

Rather than focusing on trends, body “rules,” or finding the most flattering look, we’ll create space to reflect, question, play, and experiment with your style.

“You can’t address personal style without breaking some generational curses.”
Law Roach

This is for you if…

  • You’ve ever looked at your closet and thought, “I have nothing to wear.”
  • You know what you should wear, but aren’t sure what you actually want to wear.
  • You’ve changed, but your wardrobe hasn’t quite caught up.
  • You love certain styles on other people but aren’t sure how to make them feel like you.
  • You’ve spent a lot of time thinking about whether something is “flattering.”
  • You’re ready to have a little more fun with getting dressed.
  • You want to explore your style without being told what you should wear.

This isn’t the room for…

  • A makeover.
  • A shopping trip.
  • A list of rules for dressing your body.

The shape of the evening

What we do together.

  1. The voices behind your style

What people, experiences, expectations and cultural messages have shaped the way you think you should dress?

  2. Your actual preferences

What colors, shapes, textures, silhouettes and styles make you feel most like yourself?

  3. The difference between “should” and “want”

Which style rules are serving you, and which ones might be ready to go?

  4. Style as self-expression

How can your clothes reflect who you are, rather than simply how you’re “supposed” to look?

  5. Playing with possibility

What happens when you give yourself permission to try something new without needing to get it right?

Afterwards

What you leave with.

  • A clearer sense of your personal style.
  • Something in your closet you see differently.
  • A new color, silhouette or combination you never thought you’d try.
  • A little more permission to dress for you.

Questions

Before you book.

Where exactly is it?

Lilla Barn Clothing, 5535 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60640 — in Andersonville.

What should I bring?

Nothing but yourself. No fashion expertise required — just come as you are.

How many people will be there?

Twenty at most, so there is room for everyone to actually talk.

Do I need to have my style figured out before I arrive?

No — that’s the point. You don’t need to have your personal style figured out before you arrive. Come curious. Leave with permission to play.

Do I need to know anything about fashion or personal style?

Absolutely not. You do not need to love fashion, know anything about trends, or have any existing sense of your personal style. The only thing you need to bring is yourself, exactly as you are right now.

Is this a styling session?

No. Nothing here asks you to buy anything, and nobody will tell you what suits you. It’s an opportunity to slow down, get curious, and start exploring the relationship between what you wear and who you are.

Is this therapy?

No. This is coaching — forward-focused, practical and action-oriented, though deeply informed by trauma-aware and neuroscience-backed principles. If you are in therapy, this can complement that work.

Is it recorded?

No. Nothing is filmed or recorded, so what gets said in the room stays in the room.

What if I can’t make it?

A full refund, no questions asked, up to 48 hours before we start — just email us. Inside 48 hours, email us anyway: if you are unwell or something has come up, we will refund you. We would rather you missed it than came to a workshop about permission feeling trapped by a ticket. You are also welcome to pass your place to someone else at any time.
